Join me for this book club on the topic of food literacy. We will explore topics like: How does the US food system work? How should it? What are we really eating? What should food cost? How can we, as consumers, be responsible eaters and take care of our health at the same time while leading our busy lives?
Winter and early spring dates will be on 4th Saturdays at 10:30 am. IN APRIL, WE MEET ON THE 20TH INSTEAD OF THE 27TH. In May and June, we move to Thursday evenings at 6:30 pm to accommodate my farm workload. All books available for purchase at Main Street Books. Tell Tamzin I sent you.
For an intro to all the books in the series and the whys behind why I chose them, listen to Episode 14 of the Food Smarts Podcast. If you can’t make an in-person meeting, you can listen to the corresponding episode each month on the Food Smarts podcast. Feel free to send me your thoughts, comments, and questions on the books. We would love to include your thoughts on the podcast! Email me at kirsten@smallwonderfood.com.

- A thought-provoking quote from the book:
- “When we traded homemaking for careers, we were implicitly promised economic independence and worldly influence. But a devil of a bargain it has turned out to be in terms of daily life. We gave up the aroma of warm bread rising, the measured pace of nurturing routines, the creative task of molding our families’ tastes and zest for life; we received in exchange the minivan and the Lunchable.”― Barbara Kingsolver, Animal, Vegetable, Miracle: A Year of Food Life
